Hi

I am a complete linux newb. On windwos I installed Java and Jucy works.

On PClinuxOS jucy does not work, it asks me what application I want to use to open it.

Help please

Thanks Zeb...

Try running "chmod 777 jucy" from the terminal in the Jucy directory. This will set Jucy executable with rights to execute it... it should do the trick.

Hi Quicksilver

That worked... Thank You very much...

Now I have another problem. When I go to add share either from an internal drive or a USB drive Jucy just seems to hang and doesn't go back to the share screen for me to pick another directory?

Any ideas why?

Thanks Zeb

No not really.. this just should not happen.

Please try adding a directory with little content (few Micool smiley and check if this also happens.

Also check the error log if there appears something.

Hi thanks for the quick reply.

No that didn't work either

Could it be down to the Java installed in this distro 1.60_25

Zeb...

Miraclous behaviour with java installations on Linux is nothing new.
But if its a normal OpenJDK installation it should work fine. Just some smaller distros not always handled Java best in the past.

I don't have much experience with Mandriva Linux and derrivatives in that respect. So I fear I can't help very much here... especially not as long as there is no real error message in the log... seems like Jucy hangs when reading from directory or when writing its settings. Both should though be handled more gracefully and at least show some error. At least in the error log files.

try to set the jucy settings to another place. edit the jucy.ini and change the line with @user.home to another hdd. maybe that helps.

Doublecliking the executable should do,

or running it from commandline with ./jucy when you are in the directory.
Also make sure that you have Java installed (OpenJDK6 or sth package). Be sure under Linux that you have the correct version so 32Bit or 64Bit depending on your setup.
