Gettings started coding on Jucy

Here a rough step by step guide whats needed to get started coding on Jucy.

1. Get eclipse ide (its hard to do with another ide)

2. Get Jucy source code and (use import function of eclipse on the projects)

3. Get a targetplatform release 0.85 is based on 3.6 but platform version is regularly updated by me

(http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ -> EclipseClassic/other Downloads Latest Releases has 3.6 ) there you download Platform SDK + Eclipse SDK + DeltaPack and extract them all to some folder (not into the same folder, thats messy)

4. In eclipse Preferences -> Plug-in Development you choose to create new target platform and add the 3 unpacked directories to it under Locations..

Now Jucy should compile and you should be able to start Jucy (and create a startconfiguration) by going to eu.jucy.product1/jucy.product under Overview hit Lauch Eclipse application

If you want to run jucy with extensions .. you have to add the corresponding plugins in the startconfiguration.

So there you go .. now you can start hacking away and code your own plugin for Jucy.

Hi Quicksilver

I'm having a little trouble importing the plugins into eclipse. I've imported the jucy project and so on but I'm just stuck at step 4. I can't find out where "Preferences -> Plug-in Development" is...

Any help would be appreciated! Cheers

Preferences should be in the "Window" menu.
Though on MacOsX it might be in the Application menu.. not totally sure about MacOsX.

Hi

I'm trying to run Jucy under Eclipse 4.2.
It looks, that at least uihelpers.ComplexListEditor (plugin eu.jucy.helpers.ui) is out of date.
Could you check it in the repository?

Thank you.

I pushed everything I changed till now.

Please make sure if you are working under eclipse 4.2 that you set up a target platform based on eclipse 3.8! That is the setup I currently use and should work. Jucy is not yet compatible with eclipse 4.

I've set up Eclipse 3.7 as target platform. I'll try to upgrade to Eclipse 3.8

The problem still exists on Eclipse 3.8.
Eclipse reports undefined methods: ComplexListEditor.parseString() and ComplexListEditor.createList()

ComplexListEditor should contain neither of those 2 methods. Those were removed soime time ago!
Have you pulled the code after my last post?

Yes, I have.
Various problems are reported in plugin eu.jucy.op, package eu.jucy.op.ui.

You should close that project so its not considered by the IDE for the compilation.
The op plugin was never published. It was just experiments for additional functionality especially for operators.
e.g. an improved ADL search.
I haven't worked on it for way to long and so it must have become incompatible.
