Hi there,

Two issues using Jucy v0.85 (I think it's running as 64bit as activity monitor is identifying it as that) running on a 27" 2.66ghz i5 iMac with Snow Leopard with 8gb ram.

The most serious of these is the CPU usage, it never registers below 100% (so presumably one core plus some of another). It doesn't do this on my MBP or on my friends MB, it runs perfectly fine below 10%.

Also it seems to have issue hashing all of my shared folders returning a figure much lower than Shakespeer does and what I know to be the total amount.

Maybe a simple uninstall would fix this? however whenever I try to delete the jucy folder and put in a new one it comes back in the same form and with the same problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

PS I'm not at my iMac now so am not able to upload any of the logs but hopefully I'm just doing something wrong and they won't be necessary!

I have installed a VPN and I discovered that Jucy not work properly with this.

Jucy correctly detect the new address, but the green dot turn red and show "UDP IDLE".

The searches do not work, uploads are still, but other users see me as "ACTIVE" but can not download from my client.
I tried to do a test with other clients, Apex Strong and DC.

Same problem, do not work, even if correctly sets for the new resource.
Other clients on other networks such as Shareaza, Frostwire etc ... they work perfectly, identified the new network and follow the new address automatically without problems.

How can I do? I would be very sorry to lose the network DC ...:(

1) It would be helpful if a users ip was in the finished uploads list, next to the nick field (or as an optional field that can be added/removed.)

2) In the chat window, it would be a nice feature to be able to select a separate font/font size for the nick list that's on the right hand side. I know I can slide that smaller, but, smaller/larger fonts for the nick list would be handy too :)

Couple of suggestions (sorry I didn't look to see if they're duplicates already.)

1) Add an option to disable splash screen.

2) An option to make single-clicking the icon in the system tray bring up (maximize) the client.

3) An option to make single-clicking the icon in the system tray minimize the maximized client (right now it only minimizes when I click on the taskbar icon, not the systray icon).

4) Options to remove unwanted fields in the various places, such as nick list, favorites, search, etc. For example, under the nick list, I don't really care to see the tag, connection, email fields. I know I can slide them to hide them, but it'd be nicer to have a list of fields that could be enabled or disabled.

I'm using a linux platform, so maybe these gui features are different under other platforms. I hope my explanations make sense.

Thanks :)

Hi,

I would like to get Jucy working on FreeBSD and add it to the system's ports tree so all FreeBSD users can benefit. I've tried running the linux version under emulation, but running the Jucy binary just produces this error:

Sun Sep 05 15:39:31 GMT 2010 - [main] Bundle tracker is not set

Ultimately I'd like to build Jucy to run natively under FreeBSD. I'm guessing this should be easy with it being Java based, but I've done a git clone of the source tree and I have no idea how the build system works. Could anyone provide me some pointers for building it?

JRE version:

java version "1.6.0_07"
Diablo Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b02)
Diablo Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 10.0-b23, mixed mode)

I recently wrote an NMDC bot in Python to cover a few features that aren't really beneficial to the typical DC user (ncurses text mode display being a big one).

One thing I added in were plugins that affected your file list - In addition to your regular share directories, you'd have "virtual share directories" - for example, one I made creates a share name of "Alphabetical File Listing", whose subdirs correspond to the first letter of the files. Since files are requested by root TTH hash, it didn't require any change to existing download routines, just the file list generation function(s). Another plugin groups based on the media type, etc. Since my file share is driven by a SQL database (SQLite3 with the fts3 functionality to handle finding parts of filenames), functions like alphabetization are especially easy, but it's certainly something one could work around if the share was memory-based.

Another feature I added that may not be too Java-friendly is support for the Linux inotify interface, which lets me stop having to scan for new files periodically - it just needs to scan for new files at startup time, and of course when adding a new share.

I also got it working with OSX's file notification service as well - which is journaled, letting the bot detect ffiles that were added since you shut down the bot, but the requirements for this functionality were ridiculous, so I took this functionality out (Apple only seems willing to let you communicate with the file notification service with their API, using their objective C interface.

I also have the often requested feature of giving out slots based on IP address, which the other client authors are very opposed to since it's always possible for separate users to be NAT'd to the same IP address - which is of course valid, but without that protection, any user in multiple hubs with the bot could consume multiple slots.

I don't know how often people actually want these type of features, but if any sound interesting, I maybe could be of some assistance when adding them.

Hi,

thanks for this new version of Jucy.
I think I've found a little bug ....
I hope to explain well. :D

With DC + + if I download a folder with many files within a user and then i do a search for alternatives even on one of these files, DC + + automatically updates the sources founds to other files in the same folder.
With Jucy this does not happen, I have to search for alternatives for each file if I want more sources to download.
This procedure is long and tedious because we must wait the time of research of hubs.

After some discussions with another Jucy OSX user, we've seen these fixes:

1) URLs are displaying properly!
2) Smileys no longer seem to clip text, yay!

New (possible) issue:

1) Search input at the top (in the toolbar) isn't expanding when the window is resized, or its toolbar is resized, etc

Old issue:

1) Changing fonts still doesn't appear to do anything, even after restarting.

Old issues re: magnets that I'm not sure whether are issues, only that they work differently than in other clients:

1) Other clients don't require the xl (size) or dn (filename) components of the magnet link, just the tth. I realize you display the filename and size in the magnet link, but I just wanted to point this out. (Other clients get the filename after doing a TTH search)

2) The dn unescaping seems to not handle the %xx form (like %20 = space). Again, I don't know if this is expected. Since other clients appear to get the filename from the TTH search results, unescaping may not actually matter in those clients.

I am very happy about the URL display fix - folks always seem to put something after links that I'd miss completely, or only see the end of, so this was a biggie. Thank you very much for tracking the bugs down! I'll keep my eyes open for anything else.

Finally ... after 2 days of being offline (Linux and me, we respect each other as worthy foes), getting back on track!

Sone nice features in this release. The new translation plugin came in handy a lot of times for me (mark some text in the hub rightclick, translate and done).

Otherwise lots of nice goodies, soem over time like the download of parent folders in search has simply been forgotten.

Ah well don't want to talk too much about it.. most important: This release is not tested too well! So chances are that some bugfix release comes out by the end of next week ... if not then its better than I thought :-) !
V:0.85

* Preview of Audio/Video files now possible (VLC recommended)
* Multiple shared folders with the same name are now allowed.
* Download parent folder as option in search.
* Uninstalling plugins is now possible. (Help -> Find Extensions -> already installed?)
* Translation plugin. Lets you instantaneously translate text in a hub window.
* Some startup speedup.
* Updated base eclipse to 3.6 (should fix several problems specially on MacOsX smileys...)
* Colours for file names now also for folders in file lists.

Two new features?.... (3 replies)

Hi,
I wanted to know if in the near future you were willing to adopt two new features.

1) KAD (option)
2) The option:"send junk to incoming connections" and "send junk to outbound connections"
to circumvent the limitations of some isp to p2p exchanges.

The second feature is implemented in iDC++ for Italian users.
Many ISPs in Italy restrict data traffic for p2p users.
It's a very sensitive issue in Italy, and also is leading to legal battles against the isp.
Thank you for your attention.

File hashing & resource consumption (1 reply)

Hi

First of all thanks for the good work done so far.

In order to contribute to improve Jucy, I wanted to point out that after the hash of files, Jucy continue to consume lots of memory, + / - 1 Gb.
Only after closing the client and restart it, jucy back to have a normal consumption of resources, about 400/500 Mb.

Jucy not crash, but the consumption of resources and memory remains high after making a hash of all files, and the fans are very much noise to my ears!! :D

Greetings.

Sometimes the connection restarts and consequently changes the ip...in these situations would be useful a button (in connection settings) to update ip and a function (activities to choose from user) that automatically checks the IP every few minutes
This avoids manual updates of IP upon reconnect and disconnections for wrong ip by hubs

what about a refresh button at top where the rest of the icons are?

and a aditional option to the refresh function would be to be able choose what to update... fulDC have this option :)

have to folders shared one "y" and one folder "x" , instead of refreshing it "all" be able to choose x or y .

hey!

files already shared are visible when view a filelist, but a already shared folder?

if you have a folder named " folder" in that folder there are 50files, if you alredy have this folder with thouse 50 files, while browseing another user's filelist, u should be able to see this as well, as only the files.. this makes it easy to see dupe folders!
